Taj Mahal: Taj Mahal is one of the most famous and beautiful buildings
in the world. The construction of Taj Mahal started in the year 1631 and it took
approximately 22 years to build this magnificent building. This fascinating building
employed 20,000 workers, masons, jewelers and Persian architect, Ustad Isa. Shah
Jahan built a magnificent monument as a tribute to her wife, which we today know
as the "Taj Mahal". The Taj Mahal was built on a marble platform that stands above
a sandstone one, on the bank of the Yamuna River. It is a masterpiece of symmetry
to be floating in the air from a distance, and each revealed as an illusion experienced
as one enters through the main gate. The inlay works using semi-precious stones

of 60 feet (18 m), rises 80 feet (24 m) over the building and directly connected
with the dome of Mumtaz Mahal. Verses of the Koran are inscribed on it and at the
top of gate 22 small domes, signifying the number of monument years. It can also
be observed like a mirage from the Agra Fort where Emperor Shah Jahan spent his
eight years of life as a prisoner of his son Aurangzeb.

Agra Fort: The Agra fort symbolizes the stature and power of Mughal
Emperor Akbar. The fort was started by Emperor Akbar but was completed by his grandson
Shah Jahan. The magnificent fort is built with double castellated ramparts of red
stone alongside the Yamuna River that stretches almost 2.4 km. The fort has magnificent
towers, bastions, ramparts, and gateways which are crescent shaped. The fort also
has two main gates (Delhi Gate and Amar Singh Gate) for entrance. The fort is 9
mt. wide and 10 mt. deep surrounded with huge wall that stands 69 ft in height.

Sikandra: Sikandra is named after Sikander Lodhi but it represents
the Akbar’s philosophy and secular outlook towards architectural beauty. His thoughts
and Jahangir efforts accomplished this beautiful tomb, in 1613 A.D. The entrance
is decorated with marble inlay work around the arch, and the inner surface of the
dome of the tomb is decorated with images of flowers, geometric designs and Islamic
calligraphy. It is believed that Akbar's tomb at Sikandra is a peaceful setting
for a ruler who led an eventful life. The tomb has three-storey-minarets on its
four corners and these minarets are built in red sandstone with stunning inlay work
of marble.

Itmad-ud daulah: Itmad-ud daulah is one of the most beautiful Mughal
tombs that stand across the river Yamuna. It contains cenotaphs of Mirza Ghiyas
and Asmat Begum, parents of the powerful Mughal Empress Nurjahan queen of Jahangir.
Basically Mirza Ghiyas was a Persian who obtained service in Akbar Court. The queen
constructed the beautiful monument with white marble, mosaic and lattice. Though
the tomb is not a very large structure as Taj Mahal but still it has a height of
21 m and a dome-roofed octagonal minaret of 12 m each at all corner. It is also
known as ‘baby Taj’. The inlay work or pietra dura style on the walls of mausoleum
is truly breathtaking and worth seeing.

Fatehpur Sikri: Fatehpur Sikri was built by the Mughal Emperor,
Akbar during 1571 and 1585. He had planned this city as his capital but due to the
shortage of water, he was compelled to abandon the city. Fatehpur Sikri is the finest
example of Mughal architectural splendor at its height and one should spend some
time to cherish its sight. Buland Darwaza, highest and grandest gateway in India
and the Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chisti attracts visitors from various countries.
It is myth that the Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chisti had blessed various childless
